Chaddesley Corbett achieved a historic first on 11 September by being the first parish in Worcestershire to hold a Referendum on a Neighbourhood Plan – many thanks to everyone that helped produce such a positive result!
The Chairman of the Parish Council, William Mack, said he was “delighted with the result, and thanked the team and all the many residents who had contributed to making the Neighbourhood Plan a tremendous local achievement”.
The Village Hall was both the polling station and the location for the count. A total of 328 votes were cast, a turnout of 28%, with 265 in favour – a very substantial majority of 81%.
The Neighbourhood Plan will now be adopted by Wyre Forest District Council and will be used to help decide all future planning applications across the Parish.
The Neighbourhood Plan also identifies many Actions to be taken by the Parish Council, including finding sites for affordable housing, using the old grammar school to benefit the community, improving traffic flow through the village, improving sporting facilities and promoting the parish as a tourist location. The Parish Council will work closely with residents to achieve these objectives over the next few years.
